my vampire evaluation

December 15, 2009

If I was to have redone my vampire film I would have tried to use a much larger range of camera shot’s in order to make are film seem more expensive and add make it seem as if it had a higher budget. also in one of my shots members of the public are visible this could have been avoided by filming on a set or panning the camera in a different direction I would also have tried to make it clearer to the audience that the boy (rob) used to go out with the girl Shannon. I could have done this by expanding the length of the short film by adding some short shots to set the scene to show they both used to know each other. I would have also liked to use some more extensive props to make the idea of her changing into a vampire more terrifying and supernatural. We would have also preferred to have shot outside in the woods at night but we were restricted by college shooting times to do it in a field in the morning.

Are piece would have also looked a lot more presentable if we were filming, it all in the same day instead of whether conditions changing miraculously we al at least tried to keep the same cloths so are film didn’t loose its authenticy.
Since we were outside we had very high key lighting which did not fit the atmosphere of our piece. We could have controlled the lighting by choosing to film it at night and by having a more expensive camera that has the capabilities to get a good picture at light we were trying to stick to key iconography of the vampire genre such as darkness damsel in distress sort of situation but putting a spin on it by having the woman having more power and overall more strength in the situation.

My piece only had a few diagetic sounds that shouldn’t have been their most noticeable and annoying sound was the wind going into the speaker of the camera this could have been resolved by rapping the speaker in a wind resistant material that would stop the sound from getting distorted.
We choose not to have any music in our short film to give it an air of realism and because music didn’t seem to fit into our film.

The editing sign of our piece was challenging I was totally new to the whole idea of editing and I found the concept of the whole thing very interesting. But hard to grasp I tried to make the shoots flow as well as they possibly could without it being to jittery or distorted but by doing this I had to change the layout I had of my story board inorder for it to make more sense. If I could have re edited my piece I would have filmed my film differently because I didn’t realise how easy it was to use camera tricks to make things seem as if their happening.

In Conclusion I think are group did a good job on trying to create a vampire short film I think if we were given more time and money to fully customize are film to the way we all wanted to create I think it could have been a huge success.

Stephen Gately & Jan Moir

October 20, 2009

my media i am writting an essay to state my views on what jan moir wrote about Stephen Gatley in the daily mail. Alot of people thought that Jans comment on Stephen was exstremly rude and scrutinising towards him and that Jam was not acting like a proffesionnel journalist that she is suposed to be ( writeing for one of the largest national newspapers in England) because in her article she seemed as if she was writting as a a biased and that she was stating her opinion instead of fact to the people of Britian. She was also belived to have used some forms of homaphobic sterotypes in a national newspaper whitch didn’t go down vastly well with the gay community who is belived to have also put in alot of complaints. some rumirs are even cropping up over the interenet that people want to sue the daily mail for being homaphobic on a national level or at least see some justice towards Jame Moir such as her being fired or fined heavily. Moir said tthings her article such as “their was nothing natural about Stephen Gatley’s daeth”. Whitch refers to the fact that she belives that he died drunk after coming back from a club even though CCTV confirms that upon coming back from the club. That Stephen didn’t appear to be drunk or high or on drugs at all and that most people he died naturally of a heart attack. This Shicked and angered close family members of the Gatley Family who have aparently alredy wanted to start a potition to take action on Jane and the daily mail for allowing them to produce these lies for the reason of spredaing lies and trting to danage the gay community even though the comment is still on the daily mail website people have been complaining in record breaking number aparently according to the Guardian the PCC has recieved more complaints over a single weekend then they have in the last year it does not help however that the leader of the PCC happens to be the editor of the daily mail who over see’s if the daily mail did break any of the codes of the PCC and if they did what should be the appropriate solution to stop this happening. at the moment they belive that if Moir Is to be fined or fired that their will be new laws in place to make sure that no national newspaper will be able to discriminate and tell direct lies to the public agian

Lawson Brunnock, wannabe music journalist and kickass DJ.

TV: My favourite TV shows are Family Guy and South Park. I like the comedic view that they take on society. I also watch drama shows such as Skins and Shameless because I can relate to the characters and understand their point of view.

Newspaper: I don’t generally read newspapers because I’m able to keep up to date with the news and current affairs from the internet and 24 hour news channels.

Magazines: I read NME magazine because I’m interested in music and would like to write for a music magazine when I’m older. I’m also ashamed to admit that I have read Heat magazine before when my sisters have left it lying around.

Books: Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Enough said.

Ads: Got to love the Lynx adverts, bit of false advertising though as it never actually works…  T-Mobile advert’s are also pretty funny and talking of funny…whats going on with the weird eyebrow kids in the Cadburys adverts, very odd but that always make me chuckle.

New media: I download quite a lot of music… legally ofcourse… <cough>  Hardcore fan of youtube, cat on a skateboard - classic! I can also honestly say I have never been bothered about having a facebook, which to some ignorant people means I don’t have a computer, I just don’t want one people! Deal with it !
